Chapter 2.5 Evelyn - Getting ready

Two years had gone by since Arlyn was born. Silas was still the same old Silas and took every opportunity to scare Evelyn. Or Lily. Or Anthony. Especially Anthony. Turns out old dogs really can't learn new tricks. It didn't matter how many times he did it, he still made Evelyn jump every. single. time.
"BOO!"
"AHH"
Cue Silas laughing.
"Dad, you are the WORST."
"But you still love me, right, pumpkin?"
Evelyn's grumbled reply was enough for him.

The blue Time Traveler still came and went. He filled Evelyn in on what was going on in the future, and from his description, it was beautiful. Evelyn couldn't wait to go there. He had told her that long ago he built a replica of her own time machine, so that she could travel into the future. Otherwise, she wouldn't be able to go. He'd also traveled back to place her old model where she had originally gone, and left instructions for one of her descendants to greet her there. A descendant! Her own flesh and blood had greeted her on her first venture into the future!

The blue man knew that someday, Evelyn would create a time machine, but would never be able to use it, because there were no other portals for her to go to. She would eventually give up and move on with her life, her invention only being discovered long after her death. It became a relic in some art museum before the blue man's own family found it. They fell in love with it and bought it from the museum. Eventually, the blue man would find it and realize what Evelyn had been trying to do. He made his own updated version of it, hers had long ago stopped working, and he waited.
He thought he would never see it light up.

One day, however, it started to glow. Evelyn had activated her version. He had spent years researching Evelyn and her family, finding her descendants and learning what he could from them. He was able to trace her family back hundreds of years until he found her. In her original timeline, Evelyn lived and died on Cyrene; it wasn't until her great great grandchild had moved to Sunlit Tides and established records of the Rivers family. Evelyn had lived a peaceful life on Cyrene but eventually the island had an outbreak of some sort, just like before Evelyn was born, and some of the surviving villagers built a large boat and set sail, going only on the hope that they would find new land quickly. They sailed for 3 days before finally landing on Sunlit Tides. It was different but familiar enough that they settled there, preserving Evelyn's family line, and bringing with them fond memories of her and her eccentric ways. Intrigued, a few brave people of Sunlit Tides set sail for Cyrene, saving the rest of the villagers, and bringing back a few curious things, and from there, the rest is history. Or would be, someday.

Evelyn was enthralled.

"What about now? I was never supposed to go to the future, but now..." she'd asked him.
"Of course, things have changed, since I'm here and all, but I won't reveal to you what happens next, since knowing would change the outcome. You'll just have to find out the old fashioned way."

The blue man loved to walk around in his weird transparent form, scanning everything he could to gather information about the past. It wasn't long before the rest of the Rivers family got used to him being around, transparent or otherwise, and started to ignore him.

Ryan and Arlyn, once she was old enough, loved to play with each other. Since their parents were usually absent, grandpa Silas at his bar, and grandma Lily painting, the kids entertained themselves, playing with dolls or tapping away on their little instruments. At the ripe old age of 4, Ryan was a very attentive brother, making sure his little sister was always amused. Neither of them could talk or walk yet, but they had their own language, spoken only between them.

And then one summer evening, Evelyn decided it was time.

It was time to go into the future.

Author's Notes:  So this one is super super sort. Turns out I didn't upload the pictures I had of the entire family talking about and getting into the time travel device, which is a shame. I play the game at home on my desktop, and later upload the screenshots to blogspot so I can write the stories on my laptop while I'm at work (night shift, not much to do). I must have accidentally skipped over the screenshots I had planned to use, but that's alright. Here's some random unused picture spam instead:

Crystal Wisp, Anthony's younger sister. She is so pretty! I saved her to the bin to use some day in another save.

Silas right before scaring someone. Anthony seems to be glad that he isn't the victim this time.

Silas, starting another fight with this hotdog. I think it was Jonathan.

Jonathan and Susannah's oldest daughter, Devon. She's pretty cute, even in facepaint.

An unseen immigrant who I forgot the name of, as a magical zombie.

Pulling space rocks from the heavens.

Anthony seems super concerned about all this.

First trip into the future!

Jonathan and Susannah's second child, whose name I've forgotten. I think it was something weird. I plan to change it at some point.

Accidental shot of the front of the house.

Evelyn making weird faces for no reason.

And Anthony getting sweet, sweet revenge.
